I’ve lived here for ten years and this is the first time I’ve gone up the Hudson on approach. What an amazing view.

As soon as I see Manhattan, whether from a car or a plane, I know I’m home, and I feel safe.

I’ve flown that arrival too many times. Another great route they sometimes run us is from the north, from the West to East over White Plains, towards Greta Neck north of Whitestone where we turn from that point direct LaGuardia, fly over it, then turn south down the Hudson. The best part of that one is the turns, we turn around the Empire State and then fly past Manhattan and then at the south tip turn back around to aim for LaGuardia and then turn down i495 for the visual approach around Mets stadium. It’s a full-on scenic tour.

Nice! When we flew out on Thursday night the plane banked over Citi Field at a pretty low altitude when the Mets were playing - I could actually make out the players.

I have some photos ::somewhere:: from a trip I flew with one of my pilot buds to Manassas VA and back to CT in his Cirrus. On the return leg we flew right up the east side of the Hudson past the Freedom Tower at 1000ft, and since my friend was flying that leg it freed me up to get some great photos. Traffic over NYC was light that day; nice not having to evade swarming helicopters.

I’ve flown over NYC a few times into JFK, and once in the middle of night, and you could see the brightness of lights emitting from Times Square, a truly amazing and unforgettable view
